Comet Leonard over La Palma, fine print fotopaper, 40cmx60cm
The disconnection event in comet Leonard (Dec. 26, 2021) and a short meteor captured from La Palma.
When it was cloudy at sea level on the following days, I decided to take pictures of the comet this time above the caldera of the island. The tail looked surprisingly bright and long! Only that night was the tail clearly visible to the naked eye. What happened? On the later recordings I realized that there had been brightening and a tail disconnection due to a solar storm. The tail had a length of more than 30° that evening!
